Collaborating with John Muir Trust, the leading advocate for the UK’s wild landscapes, was an incredible experience. As a child, my lifelong passion for nature was kindled by watching VHS tapes of David Attenborough’s ‘Life on Earth’ on repeat, and this awe for the natural world, along with a deep respect for conservation efforts, nurtured my commitment to this project.
I worked alongside John Muir Trust rangers and local community groups across the UK, to portray vital conservation work in locations such as Glenlude, Loch Arkaig, and Schiehallion in Scotland, as well as Glenridding Common, below Helvellyn, in the Lake District, England. Each landscape provided unique insights into responsible land management, from community led tree planting to reinvigorate native habitats, to peatland restoration work, vital to the process of carbon sequestration.
Witnessing how professionals and volunteers endeavour so passionately to preserve and restore the UK’s wild places was inspiring, and in a small way, I hope these images can help to support the efforts to ensure these landscapes thrive for generations to come.
